A medium truck is a commercial motor vehicle that falls between the category of light trucks and heavy trucks in terms of size and weight. In the United States, a medium truck has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds.
These trucks are often used for delivery or transportation of goods over short and medium distances, with some common examples including box trucks, refrigerated trucks, flatbed trucks, and dump trucks. They can be driven with a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and are regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
